Team Development Training: Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team

For a team to be cohesive and truly productive, its members must exhibit five critical behaviors: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results. DewPoint Consulting’s team development training, Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, enables teams to increase their capabilities in all five areas.

Dr. Rita Giacalone is an accredited advanced facilitator of the Five Behaviors of a Cohesive TeamTM a partnership between Wiley Workplace Solutions and best-selling author of Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Patrick Lencioni. Rather than a one size fits all program, Five Behaviors of a Cohesive TeamTM  begins with an in-depth assessment process, which includes individual interviews with each team member. Individuals also complete the Five Behaviors Assessment, which collects data on differences within the team, as well as overall team functioning. The team’s scores are then compared to data collected from over 29,000 individuals worldwide.

Based on the assessment results and context from team member interviews, Dr. Giacalone engages the team in a rich, facilitated dialogue to explore their strengths and derailers. Through this process, team members gain an increased understanding of each other’s needs and style differences. They also create concrete action plans reflecting their commitment to behavioral change. A 6-month follow-up allows the team to re-assess its functioning and measure progress.

Rita is an excellent facilitator. She helped us recently with an executive team off-site. The combination of her very thorough preparation and ability to quickly assess dynamics within the team led to a very successful outcome. The whole team found the session to be very effective, well-run and immediately impactful within the broader organization. Rita has a great style – a unique blend of being able to challenge you to think differently alongside a warm and fun approach that creates a healthy, productive meeting dynamic. Many of our executives are asking for Rita to help them with their own teams.
