Hi, I’m Rita Giacalone
Principal of DewPoint Consulting.
I am passionate about affecting positive change and growth in individuals, groups, and whole organizations. For more than twenty years, I have become a valued resource for a range of leadership and organization development needs. I have remediated many employee relations issues to resolution, led strategic planning efforts that resulted in increased strategic focus and prioritization, facilitated management retreats to improve communication and decision making, and partnered with human resources in the development of competency based models for talent selection.
Before becoming an executive coach and organizational consultant, I was a clinical psychologist in private practice. I am a certified Everything DiSC trainer and a Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team partner. I have found these tools, when customized and combined with effective facilitation, to be true game changers for individuals and teams.
Keenly aware of people’s unique traits
The seminal book, First Break All The Rules, refers to people’s inherent talents as “superhighways” in the brain. I would like to tell you about my superhighways, my inherent skills that make me a perfect fit for my work. By nature, I am keenly aware of people’s unique traits. And, I have the ability to bring people together to discover what they have in common, as well as appreciate and capitalize on each other’s differences.
The result not only leads to increased individual and team productivity, it also produces ripple effects throughout the organization. I love working with companies whose decision makers and influencers ascribe to the belief that leadership occurs at every level of an organization and invests in its people accordingly.
Deep interest and respect
People often say to me after first meeting me, “I don’t know why I am telling you so much about myself. I never do this.” My clients are so open with me because I convey a deep interest in and respect for every person I meet. They walk away feeling heard, valued, and worthwhile. This is the basis of trust. Trust is the key to what I do, and why I do it so well.
I think systematically, and I gather ideas and communicate about issues in a practical, straightforward manner. My training in psychology taught me how to use my inherent predisposition for systematic thinking to identify patterns in relationships, processes, and cultures. When I don’t know the answer to something, I won’t stop until I discover the facts, and I consider them very carefully before providing feedback or stating my ideas. I read, I probe, I analyze, I reflect… all in an effort to provide the best possible guidance to my clients.
Finally, I truly live to serve. I take tremendous pride and pleasure in working to develop people and solve problems, leading to more enjoyable, engaged, and productive workplaces. For better or for worse, most of us spend the majority of our adult lives at work. I help people tap into their best selves, so they can find more fulfillment, as well as make a larger contribution to their teams and organizations.
